Default prepending data to exel

i am trying to prepend data to existing data in excel.

the data in the cell is a varying set of numbers.

i want to prepend a character to the data. for instance 123.45 becomes ABC-123.45 the next cell may be 125.24 and become ABC-125.24
the prepend will always be the same.

I have tried find / replace but that will only find data that is the same. i tried find * but it was looking for an *.

i tried using IF statements but it replaced with an *.
I also need to have the data replace into the same cell as this will become part of a program.

any suggestions please.

Hi so you want to add ABC- to the front of cell A in to cell B so it will be ABC-123 ? If A cell has 123 in it B cell will say ABC-123?

Default Re: prepending data to exel

cell A1 has original data 123
cell A2 has original data 135 etc.

I want to prepend that original data with new data ABC- so that
cell A1 now has new data ABC-123
cell A2 now has new data ABC-135
etc. etc.

each cell will have different original data (123) but the prepend (ABC-) will always be the same.

the data must go back into the same cell otherwise it will screw up the whole spreadsheet.

I have tried using the find and replace function but that only finds the same original data and only appends.

I thought maybe a wild card would do it but * ? or ~ don't seem to work.
