Default OpenOffice Help Needed

Hi

I am helping a relative with their business. I want to design a page using Open Office with just a letterhead on it so the other person can just add the main letter to it. Now, the problem I'm having is trying to copy the whole letter that is done in Open Office and then paste it into an e-mail instead of adding it as an attachment so it shows up in the e-mail that I'm composing. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link but I've already looked at that site and couldn't find anything on there about it that helped.

Sorry to hear but I feel sure that the word section of Open Office would be like MS Office so if you want to design a letterhead then save it as a template rather than a normal doc(ument).

Just a thought FG

By the way what email client are you using?

I'm using Outlook Express.

I want to copy and paste the whole letter, including the letterhead, into the e-mail and have it display exactly how I wrote it in Open Office

Going through this again I'm suggesting that your friend does not have OO yes?
Can I ask why you would not want to send it as an attachment?

If they don't, then install OO on their system and create the header on that.

The reason why we don't want to send it as an attachment is because all the letters will be sent to business contacts and it doesn't look very professional, not only that, if the recipient receives an e-mail that contains an attachment they will more than likely not bother opening it.

Doesn't really matter if my relative has Open Office or not as they will have the same problem if they try and do it.

Maybe I'm not explaining it properly ..... What I'm trying to do is design a template letter with just the company logo on it so my relative can just type the letter on it and keep the original. Then what we want to do after the letter is complete is copy and paste the completed letter to an e-mail and then send it to the recipient, so when they recieve it it will display in the e-mail rather then them having to open an attachment.

Quite honestly I think the second part of your post regarding the mail thing just can't be done as the mail won't recognise the formatting.
I have just run a test using Word Art and that didn't show in the email.

I feel there must an alternative way though and I will continue investigating.

Thank you for all your help and I will keep checking back in hope that you find a solution

The relative that I'm trying to do it for said that they did it years ago but can't remember how she did it

I know it is possible to do it if I design it as a webpage (Frontpage) but the other person doesn't have a webpage editor. If they did then they could just edit the page and then copy and paste that into e-mail.

Really hope this can be sorted

Could you just create the Logo as an image (say a jpg) file. This could be inserted into the email and the email created using an html option (i.e. not plain text). I am not sure but maybe a blank email with just the logo could be created as an email in the draft folder or somewhere to act as a sort of email template.
