Yeh, It did have that option asking me to remove the old version of office b4 installing the new 07 ver, but it didnt remove it properly. like it is gone from add\remove and all the shortcuts etc are all gone but thats because i deleted them first and most (hopefully) of the reg keys... but the office 2007 installation still picked it up which is good and asked me if i wanted to uninstall it . didnt work .. so then i uninstalled office 2007 .. and run a program called microsft uninstaller or something that i got from the MS website, i also tried the eraser2k thingy but it didnt pick anything up... if only i could use the cd to install it again and then un install it but it wont let me grrr. here is the error msg that i get as per what i have been told over msn, (althought i was also infront of the comp when it happened but i cant remember it all too clearly)

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not avaliable.

insert the disk and click OK

if i click OK it says...the file " is not a valid instalation package for the product. try to find the instalation package 'PRORET.MSI' in a folder from which you can install. Then i browse to my install cd and select the PRORET.MSI. it loads for a bit then it asks for another file .. which i couldnt get out of my friend ova msn as he is computer illiterate lol and i forgot the filename after i left his house.. " but yeh its asking for a file that isnt on the two cd's or hard drive. i tried to search for it everywhere . no luck. (including hidden files and folders etc. but i will try that reg key advice you gave to me next time im at the comp.. thx for your prompt replies so far...

Hey TheUsed, did you manage to find the name of that file? If the above instructions I gave you didn't work, but your given the actually file name of what it's trying to extract from proret.msi, when can probably find the individual files it's looking for.
