Unhappy [Pending] MS Word Allignment Scope

When I click on one of the Allignment buttons (Allign Left, Allign Center,Allign Right) it re-alligns the entire document. By default Word is supposed to allign only the current parragraph. Does anyone know how to change this back? If, on a given line, I select a few characters, it alligns only the selected lines like it is supposed to.

In addtion to researching on the net and in the help, I have taken the following actions.

1. Run the "Detect and Repair" module in the help menu to restore all??? settings back to default.
2. Uninstall and Reinstall Word.
3. Unistrall all of office, delete the Office11 folder in Program Files, delete the Application Data\Microsoft\Office folder in my profile, delete the Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OFFICE folder in my profile, reinstall office.

The allignment buttons still applies to the entire document. I also noticed that, before I started all of this, the Show/Hide Formatting button was set, which is not the default. This setting also survived the various uninstalls and reinstalls. I imagine that, whereever word stores this setting, it also stores the default allignment scope.

I would aprreciate any help with this issue.

Welcome to PCHF.

Which version of Office are you using? (2003?, 2007?)
Which version of Windows are you using? (XP Pro?, Vista Home Premium?)

Thanks

Default XP Pro with SR2 and Office 2003

I didn't mention it before, but I tried to install Word 2000 SR1. I still had the problem so I put 2003 back on.

Sorry for the late response. Do you still require assistance with this problem?
