Office Software - Anyone know how to fix this excell problem Fast! posted in the Software forums; every time I go to open eg.xls I get this error but know one has it open!? Know how to fix it? Picture attached...

It means that Andy Telford (that name sounds familiar to me for some reason)...has it open on his computer.
If not...then thats where it becomes fun and a bit more difficult

he is not in the file I even switched of his pc and tried to open it. Is there a lock file that you can delete to fix it? You might know andy we sell sheds all over OZ.I think it happen after he had it open thtough a remote connection if that helps about a week ago I turned off the remote access pc to see if that fixed it but no it didn't

I found this but is duzn't really tell you how to fix it just gets you to save as not fix the original file You receive an error message when you try to save a file in Excel

Rebooted fileserver lastnight when everyone left work all working ok now. I hate it when weird stuff like this happens!

I can tell you why it happened Matt

It's because either Excel crashed while he had the file open - or because his computer crashed or was turned off incorrectly.

I've had this happen at a few of our clients before, and unfortunately there was no real "fix"

I even when to the Open Files area (Comuter Management) on the server and closed the files from there...didn't fix it. Crappy thing is this was a mine site, so we couldn't just "restart the server at the end of the night" because they work 24/7
