Default Microsoft Office 2003 Freezes

Does anyone else have a problem with this constantly freezing their computer?

If I click on a link in an email or even just when its checking for mail it will freeze my system. I am wondering if maybe I need to change to a different mail program instead!

I specifically paid extra for my computer so that it would have the resources available to have plenty of windows open if need be because of the work I do. However, when I have MO 2003 open and one other window it can still cause problems.

Anyone know any solutions please?

Thanks

I use Gmail for my mail system, you should look into it. Mailto: links then open in a compose new message in Gmail automatically and links work fine.

I'm guessing you are using Outlook? I personally don't like outlook, especially for mailto: links. What type of system are you running?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I use Microsoft Office 2003. The thing is I have a lot of different email accounts coming into it because of the work I do and I like the easy layout of it so need something quite comparable.

Has anyone heard if the newest version of Microsoft office is more stable?

Thanks

I've only used the beta version and I had no problems with it, other then when I'd save something in .docx and need to open it on my other computer without the 2007 beta version and I was screwed

But you can save to the older format in 2007. I just bought the full 2007 version through school (only $55 for Pro) so I'm hoping it is just as good, hopefully better than the betas.

I'd look into using Exchange for e-mail. And I have never met a single person who didn't like gmail. Wouldn't hurt to at least look into it. I think it'd be great for business.
