just about ready to drop-kick this one through the goal posts of life. I've emptied out all her temp files, (ran ATF), navigated to user\local settings\temporary internet files\ and got rid of all the 'hidden' folders there (found them with cmd prompt), deleted all outlook junk from her app data folder, and still cannot open .msg files. I can open them, as can everyone else. Dunno why she can't. It's an exchange environment, if that helps. Also tried the registry fix located here. The workaround in place is to save the .msg attachments to the desktop and open them that way, which works fine, but it's a few more extra steps than she would like. I'm about ready just to delete her email profile and reinstall it, but as she's got umpteen folders in there, I'm a bit leery of doing that.

Sorry I can't help on this one mate, gonna have to pass to the animals that run Outlook.

yeah, it's beat some pretty good minds here at work so far......personally, I think I will need to reinstall the profile, but we'll see.

yup.....been there......that page got me to that registry hack that, quit frankly, I am surprised didn't work. My money is on reloading the profile, but I'll wait and see if anything new crops up. The weird part is that it is ONLY .msg files, and ONLY her pc, so it's got to be a setting somewhere, which is why I'm surprised that overriding it in the registry didn't work.

found a fix, but forgot what it was. Marking as fixed. Man, I'm getting old.
