Hi djgun

Welcome to PC Help Forums

I'm not familiar with Quickbooks software but if you'd bear with us for a short while until a member of our Tech team comes online we would be grateful.

I'll be checking back from time to time. I have to get it figured out somehow. It loaded on my laptop just fine. Just won't load on my desktop where I need it most.

Thanks

Hi d_jgun, welcome to the PC Help Forum.

I'm not entirely sure on Quickbooks...but that error above - is it the exact error message?

I've done a bit of research and it appears that either your profile or registry is corrupt. Are you able to try installing it under another user? If you have no other user (and are using Windows XP) please browse to the CD - don't let it auto run - and (while holding shift) Right Click on the setup.exe and select Run As then type in Administrator and enter the password (if there is one).

I tried to load it under another User and even created a new user with admin rights. No luck. I'll try the second suggestion.

Thanks!

Quickbooks now offers "simple start edition" 2008 for FREE from their site as a download or you can have a disk mailed. This is good since I have 2006 simple start. I get same access error and adding accounts or running as admin does me no good. It goes through almost the whole install on Vista Ultimate 64 edition and ends with the same error then rolls back. Quickbooks says you may need to edit the registry but will not tell you what to remove as it is advanced stuff for the basic computer user. Does anyone have any idea how to fix as even their latest edition fails Vista 64 install. My machine specs are AMD 64x2 3800, with 3gb of ddr2 800 memory, Nvidia 8800gt, 2-160gb sata drives, nforce 590 sli EVGA motherboard. The funny thing is, my old quickbooks 2006 is running on the Vista Ultimate 64 edition pc behind me. Single AMD 64 processor, but similar specs.
