Default Exporting & Importing Outlook Contact

I want to share some Outlook contacts (a distribution list) with a fellow worker. We're on a network using Exchange. I exported the contacts in three different flavors: .pst, .csv., and .xls, but I'm not able to import them at my co-worker's workstation. I tried putting them in his Local Settings folder (need admin privileges to access the folder), but I come up short. Is there a simple way to do this? Thanks.

Lightbulb Use Shared Contacts

hi editprod - welcome to our Forum! You've probably made the best choice this week by joining!!

In exchange you can share contacts which is much better to do than exporting and importing as it's dynamic and will keep up to date. You can also give permissions to your colleague as to whether you want them to have rights to change, delete, create etc.. for you too.

What version of outlook do you have?

If you have 2003...
Open your Contacts Folder and from the File>folder>Sharing Click the 'Add...' button, find him/her from the 'Global Address List' double click on their name and then click on 'OK'. Choose the rights you wish to give them and then Click 'OK'

Then get him/her to open their Contacts Folder in Outlook and click on File>open>other users folder... then type in your name - this should auto complete (if not click on 'Name' and search and select through the 'Global Address List') Click 'OK' and you should now be sharing your folder.

All the best

Default

I'm using Outlook 2002. I'd have to check the co-worker's set-up (some of us are Win2K and some WinXP.

I'd prefer not to share (which I've done with other workers using Tools | Options | Delegates | Add ). I'd simply like to provide him with 14 contacts that are part of a distribution list in my Outlook Contacts so that he doesn't have to re-enter all the data at his end.

Talking Export from a specific folder...

Thank you for the 'Thanks'

You can try moving/copying the group to a new folder then export that folder.

When you do export to a csv can you open it in excel and see all the data?

To be honest I wouldn't bother if it's just 14 contacts, I'd just print out the list and leave him to it - job done

Thumbs up Thank you & Did that do it?

Thank you for the 'Thanks' - again it's great to know you've helped someone.

Did that fix it for you, or are you going to give him a printout?

Grom
