Hi there and welcome to PCHF,

Try this;

Open Windows search and look for a file named normal.dot. Rename all instances to normal.old. Word will re-create a new blank template when you next open it and this should fix your problem.

Hi!
Welcome to PC Help Forum!

I'm going to move this thread to our Software section, as our Site Announcements section is for announcements around the site only.

i dont see how to reply to you. ahah think i found it
the search does not turn up normal.net
when i open word and click templates i see
norma2l.dot norma3l.dot dot1.dot
when i do a search for norma nothing turns up
when i open word and go to templates and clik properties on these they say they are in c:documents and settings/doug/application data/microsoft/templates
but there is no application data file there
very puzzled
hope you get this and can help further
thanks

Yes, rename all of these (norma2l.dot norma3l.dot dot1.dot) to have the .old at the end of them.
