Default Help with recovering a lost document

Recently, a friend of mine used my laptop to write a word document. He can't remember on what he stored the document (ie a CD or flash drive). I went onto word and it still has record (under recent files) that it existed, but the file path or document no longer exist. I was wondering if it is possible to recover that document since it was opened on my computer (I heard that all data stays on a computer). And how I would do so.

Thanks

I have used PCI and I was unable to fing the file. I have the file path that the file was at before it was deleted, but the program can't find it.

I'm sorry. It's too late now, what my friend ended up doing was re-typing the entire thing. Thanks for all the help anyways
