got connected to a wireless network,but now i cant get connected to the internet.the signal has 4 out of 5 bars.computer network is set up as my home network.went through the command prompt and still cant figure it out.do i have to buy a wireless internet card?

the network you are connecting to is it a secure network ? do you enter a network key to connect to it ?

yes.back again.did not bring computer with me again this time though.no its an unsecured network.its in apartment complex but i dont have internet so trying to get on someone elses until then

ok can you check (next time your at home with the laptop) when you get the wireless connected symbol up, click on it and select view available networks and just see that your laptop is connecting to the right unsecured network (in your apartment ) , is there some sort of network manager program or is the wireless run by windows zero configuration ?

not sure about network manager.clicked on symbol last night and it was fine
