well is the dvd formatted to play in any dvd player ?(standalone)
or is it burnt as data ? you could try windows media player or download vlc player from here VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player.

if by operation disc you are refering to the recovery disc / windows operating system disc then if a complete reinstall has taken place and the programs are not installed or listed then it would seem that either the recovery disc was made before those programs were installed and then would not include them upon full recovery or that the installation disc you have does not include them, in short if you have done a complete reinstall and the programs are not installed then unfortunately they are "lost" ,and your option would be to buy new copies of the software or use open office to read the files you have or want to make download: OpenOffice.org Downloads

its probably burnt as data.think the movies were saved in his files and burnt to a disk.qt tells me to open the file in we>drag to qt icon>folder>open.none of this make any sense to me.downloading the office stuff now then will try the other.

as with qt do i have to be on-line to use.

hiya have you downloaded qt from here Apple - QuickTime - Download - Congratulations and installed it ? once this is installed , open the cd/dvd and double click on one of the files one the disc and it should play ok ifif doesnt play then drag and drop the file to your desk top or whereever you wish to place it and again try and run it

and no you dont have to be online to play or use qt

got it all figured out .i think the downloaded disks may not be right.everything else seems to working great.thank you for all your help.if i need anything else in the future this site will be the first place i go.thanks again.
