Solved: connects but no internet - Page 3

ok.brought computer with me to work.got home last night and got connected.had to walk all through apartment to find a signal and even then it wasnt very good.connected to wireless at work this morning with no problems.at the apartment there are 5 networks that i pull up.4 are secured so no luck there.the other is a linksys network that sometimes has limited access.keeps saying something about a network adapter when i try and connect to it.maybe im just not destined to own a laptop.

You can't log onto someone else's internet connection Johnny as that's nigh upon theft when they are paying for it.

It was foolish of them to run an unsecured network.

Does this building have any kind of wireless access point at all?

well from what you have described i.e. 5 networks that 4 are secure and one has a limited connection ,it would seem that unfortunatly you are only left with the option of getting a service yourself for your apartment which you would of course you have to pay for ,it sounds like the signal is not strong enough to support a full connection hence the limited access , but on the up side (although its not to much comfort) your laptop sounds like it all running great as you connected at work with no problems straight up and it is actually finding the networks

sorry.busy at work.yes the wireless issue has been resolved.is there a way to play a dvd burned by an apple mac through quicktime on my pc?ive heard that it is not compatible.also is there any way to retrieve my microsoft wrod,excel, from when the operation disk was installed.the computer came with all those programs already installed and then the operations disk removed them.are they lost?
