Default Trying to network Windows ME and Vista

I've successfully set up a windows Vista workstation, and a Windows ME workstation so that they can see each other on a home network.

Passwrod protect has been turned off.

I can access the Windows ME PC via the Vista computer, but when I try to access the Vista computer via the ME one, Windows ME just stalls completely until I use the task manager to close Network places.

Any ideas why this is and how I can fix it?

Thanks

Thanks very much.

I've been told it might be something to do with the NTML, but I'm not sure how to get around this.

First off you need to ensure the firewall in Vista is letting ME in. Second Vista is very fussy about not letting anyone connect without a password.
Set up ME to have the same username and password as you have on Vista and logon with that password.
Set the share on Vista to everyone full rights
Make sure ME doesnt have netbui running as that screws everything

Then open a command box and try connecting via a net use command.
If the vista pc is called vista and the share is called myshare and the user on vista is boss with a password or fred the you would type

net use p: \\vista\myshare fred /user:boss

p: maps it as drive p you can use any letter not in use

Thanks for the advice.

Sorry still no joy though, it says that p:\\vista\mysharepassword/user:username refers to a location that is unavailable.

Obviously I used the correct details when I typed them as a run command.

Before I set up a password on the Vista pc, the ME computer would just freeze whenever I tried to access the Public folder on the Vista pc. Now that I have setup user accounts on both pc with the same username and password, instead of just stalling whenever I try to access Vista from ME, it prompts me to enter a password. Even thought the password is the same for both pc's, and I know that I'm entering it correctly, it is telling me that the password is not recognized.

What should I do now?

the line you type in
p:\\vista\mysharepassword/user:username

should be with a space between p: \\
p: \\vista\mysharepassword/user:username

Doing it your way when you try and map a drive it should give you the option to login as another user try that and enter username and password there.
The command above should work with the space and is better as you can save it as a file with a cmd extension and run it again.

Are you sure on the share you have everyone with full control as it shouldn't ask for a password by rights
