I'm having constant internet / network issues with my WRT-54G ever since Time Warner came and installed a new modem at my house. I used to have a simple Motorola modem and they installed a new SBV5121
Surfboard modem with VOIP functionality and it's never been the same since.
I have dd-wrt firmware v24-sp1 (07/26/08) std-special with pretty much default configurations. The only settings I have changed were the DNS servers (I made them OpenDNS) the wireless encryption (Enabled WPA2 with AES) DDNS (with noip.com), and time sync settings (with Dlink's NTP servers).
I used to have these settings, with additional advanced features such as Overclocking, QoS, MAC Specific DHCP assignment, Port Forwarding, and other advanced features without any problems but I reset the router to erase all the advanced settings to see if that was the issue.
Ever since the new modem, my internet and network has been going down almost every half hour. I'm unable to access the router page, ping any websites or the router.
The strangest part is that when I do ping the router, I get a reply back from my own IP address. I feel as though I might have a configuration issues:
Firstly, it replies back from my own IP address .. ? Then it times out afteward. I'm not sure why it's doing this. I don't have any manual configurations set up on my own network card and haven't enabled anything on the router as far as I understand. Any ideas?
Further, restarting the router doesn't usually help. I'll need to restart (or even reboot with default settings) numerous times before it kicks in.
