Default Joining an unavailable domain

I've made a little mistake! Here's my situtation:

My computer has a user, USER1, that is a member of a domain, corp.priv. I accidentally made the computer a member of the workgroup WORKGROUP, and now, I can't log on to USER1 because a message saying: "the system could not log you on. make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again. etc." I can log on to the built in administrator account, but when I try to change to the domain corp.priv instead of the workgroup WORKGROUP, I get a message saying "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."

Extra info: I'm not on the network where I originally became a member of corp.priv anymore. It was my old employer's, and I can't access it anymore.

I really need to be able to log on to USER1. How can I go about this?

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

As you are Admin, you should have no problem doing this..

Create a new user profile for "User1" (call it anything you like) then login to that profile. Log out and re-boot. Login as Admin and right click on "My Computer" > properties > Advanced > User Profiles. Then copy the OLD User1 profile into the new profile that you have created.

Log out and then in as the new user and you will see User1's profile, files etc...
