I also have a dual AMD 600+ with a gigabyte board,I have 4 gig of DDR2 installed and I also get lag/freeze issues with skype.

I do belive this is a skype issue.

Ladygreenwitch is right.

You can try a reinstall of Skype although that may not fix the issue.

JB.

Hey Robbie,

OK, it doesn't look like malware, but you can definitely fix the following in HijackThis! If you made changes to your host file on purpose, do not fix the bolded entries.

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
I see a couple of contenders as the issue though. First of all you have a LOT of programs running similar things at the same time. For example Skype and Messenger Live, etc. Then you have Folding@Home running in the background. Which by the way is a wonderful thing for you to be doing. I am wondering however, if it isn't cycling and causing your glitches. Also, are you running Windstream.net the anti-virus, anti-spyware suite, as well as Avast? If not did you at one time? There might be a conflict going on there as well.

It is obvious that you are using an inordinate amount of resources at one time. Have you tried disabling F@H while you are using one of your internet communication programs?

Can you please right-click on My Computer, and choose Manage, then double click on System Information, and then Event Viewer, and take a look at your Application Log, and your System Log, to see if you are showing any errors and/or Warnings. If you are, please close the log, right click on the Application icon, and choose Save As, change the type to text, and name it todays date app log. Repeat with the System log, of course changing the name to today's date system log. You may need to eliminate older entries in order to show me the last week or so of entries, or the file will be too large to attach.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Default Re: Internet lag problem..

Ok well i closed everything last night, turned off folding at home and all my messengers but skype, it still does it, i also checked the app and system logs, no errors, accept for a few games that crashed. But other than that everything is fine. The windstream antivirus, i dont think im running it, im running avast. But before i got this replacement modem the internet ran great. But i did notice when i got this modem i had to install something from the company on my computer, but i dont see any programs, i type windstream in the search bar and windstream controls pop up in the search, but when i click nothing happens :/ i dont know, but this lag is super annoying. Thanks for trying to help, any other suggestions?
