Hey Robbie,

So Windstream controls pop up? Is your ISP alltel? I believe that Windstream is your portal from your ISP, the way mine is Comcast.

Was this something that you had to install from the company, (I am figuring your ISP, correct?) given to you on a CD or was it downloaded?

Is this modem the one provided to you by the ISP? Have you asked to have it replaced?

If you shut it off and let it recycle, does the lagging begin immediately?

Can you please run the DSL test at Windstream, and post back with the results?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Well it use to be alltel, but then they changed to windstream :/ I dont know the deal on that. But When i first got the modem, i plugged it in and such. I tinkered around a bit, and i found out that on my router i had to change it from PPPoE to obtain ip address automatically. Theres another, set a staic ip? Should that do anything. but anyways, after i did that, i clicked on firefox, and windstream came up, told me to download a software, and then i had to type in my username and password to authorize my account, after that i could use the net. The modem was provided by windstream, because my other modem had fried because i had used it for over 4 years.

I have reset my modem and router many times, it still lags, i really dont know what to do

Here is the results.. Weird thing, i pay for 6mbps internet..

DSL Downstream Bandwidth Test

Yours
4495 Kbps

DSL Lite
up to 256 Kbps

DSL Tier 1
up to 1500 Kbps

DSL 3 Mb
up to 3 Mbps

Run Test Again >>>

Hey Robbie,

Thanks for that, clears up the Windstream mystery,

I don't think that this is something that you are going to be able to "fix" I think you need to get in touch with your ISP, and have them do some tests on your line, possibly replace your modem, etc. Everything is indicating that they are the problem.

If you are paying for 6 mbs, you are getting really ripped off.

If you want to verify that speed test, go to dslreports and see if it comes out the same.

Looking forward to your reply,

Oh Thank you Robbie,

That would be awsome.

I am really sorry that I had to give you that news. I hate talking to those guys too. I've found that if you start getting the run around, you make them upgrade your status, until you finally talk to one of thier real techs, you get more comprehensive, and helpful information. Usually you have to get them to upgrade you to a status 1 trouble ticket.

We'll be looking forward to your post.
