Look on the side or the back of the computer.For a sticker.

It could be a Dell dimension or inspiron or some thing like this.Then it should have a number after that.Or numbers or letters or do you see a service tag number?

i know its a dimension cant remember how i know but i do but there is no stickers on it whatsoever maybe they got taken off it is an old girl

found it! its a dell dimension 8250 with xp pro

Now I see USB needs drivers.

I need you to download the chipset for me and run it.

Then in device manager I need you to right click on each USB device and choose update driver.Chipset includes drivers for your USB.

I asum under network that number 2 or number 12 are the driver you require.

Download them both and save do not rum.Then in device manager right click on the network adaptor and choose update and manulay locate the file.

You can download and run but you may find one works and one will not.

sorry but this seems to have confused me alot as its not as easy as you mentioned, so i went oon the site and downloaded the three. i then have to put them on disk as ive downloaded them off of the laptop

So when i unzipped the chipset one it came up with instructions as well however the instructions say this > go to device manager and click the + next to network adapters however i dont have one thats called network adapters.

the three that are yellow are under "Other devices"???
