Question How can I remove a homenetwork set-up?

I would like to be able to remove a home network set up (two computers).
We have two computers in a home office (my wife's and mine) both with Windows XP Professional and sharing an internet connection using a wireless router.

A copy of a back-up program (Acronis True Image Home) is installed on both and scheduled to carry out a daily back-up routine on each independently (each to an external hard disk).

This has worked fine so far and now I decided it would be convenient if I could set up a home network to allow file sharing.

I took the opportunity of my wife being away for a few days to try this and the networking set-up works well - except the back-up program now fails on both computers with a logon error.

I have had no response from a query posted on the Acronis forum and would like, at least for now, to remove this home network so that the back-up program works again (at present this more important than having a home network).

The Windows help and Network wizard makes setting up the network fairly straightforward but I could find nothing there as to how to remove it again.
So I ask please, how can I remove the home network except for the shared internet connection to get back to the situation when the back-up program worked?

Derek Shaw.

You have the disc for Acronis install ?
you may be able to fix the login issue from it.
Would save having to reconfigure/reinstall your network.
Acronis will probably get back to you-- and a couple of days will not make that much difference in a backup....? You could temporarily disable the daily backups.

If you really want to wipe/start over:

In control panel... Network and Internet Connections/ Network connections:
You should see an icon for your network.
highlight the icon-- on the left side menu-- "change the settings of this connection"--
Under the General Tab just check everything and click uninstall.

Thank you for your comments. I have a reply from the Acronis forum suggesting I should create a dummy logon on both computers but have now had to ask there how to do this. I am therefore hoping that I can eventually fix Acronis to work whilst keeping the home network but at least your instructions give me a last ditch way out if really needed - but I hope not!

This automatically picked up the new user names which had been created by setting up the home network and inserted them correctly in Acronis. I had actually tried to change my user name (for Acronis) by manually editing it to what was actually the correct name but this had not worked (i.e. manual editing of this to the correct name did not work, it needed an uninstall and reinstall).
