No worries, I am going to refer this thread to our networking master. He may have some ideas as to why they are running slowly. My first inclination would be to use a PC as a server, and put all of the printers on that, but let's see what he says.

Does the problem occur if you print directly to the printer? i.e. from the PC that the printer is connected to?

Can you also explain at what point is the print slow? Between the time you press the Print button, to the time the document starts to print? The time it takes for the page to feed into the printer, to the time the actual page is ejected from the printer? or the time between the page is ejected from the printer to the time the next page is fed?

OK, just because I am curious, would the timing of the slow down be relevant to the software install or to the printers functionality, and how it is connecting to the PCs? Your question intrigues me.

Yes! The printing is slow even for the local user (if someone prints to the printer that is directly connected to their client). It is slow DURING the printing process (usually around 35 PPM, slowed down to like 3 PPM).

hmmm, these printers are not capable of printing 35 PPM as they are only deskjet printers. The maximum speed (in colour) for the 2410 for example is only 15 PPM and even then, this is only in draft mode. Standard you can expect a maximum of 5 PPM and in best quality you can expect 1 PPM in both colour and black/white.

It really comes down to in this case, a balance between speed and quality.

GQ, you may want to check the default settings for the users, it may be that they are trying to print at too high a resolution, and consequently slowing down their printing. Very rarely is it necessary to print at high resolution. The don't have to print at draft quality, (although it would save on ink for things that aren't going to be presented), but they shouldn't be printing as for Pictures for regular items either.
