I'm curious is your mother's laptop running Vista or XP?

Have you made sure that you have the latest Vista drivers for your wireless card?

Have you gone into device manager and looked at the wireless card to see if there is any problem?

Look at all the tabs as one other thing I've ran into is the wireless NIC is sometimes set to
power-down when not in use, especially when the laptop is on battery. Check
for those settings too.

How are you connected to the internet? Are you using a Router?

She's running Vista, the same as I am.
I'll check out those things ASAP.

MichaelG: Yeah, Modem and router downstairs.

Update: Getting drivers for NIC and the wireless card, AND changed the Power Management tab to not allow the computer to turn the device off.

Hopefully this has solved it!

Thanks everybody!
(If not, i'll put up a post.)

Hey Guys,

@MoonKana, would you please put up a post regardless, it is really helpful to get as many ways to fix problems in the forums as possible. Remember, you may be helping to solve someone else's problem down the road.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Unfotunately the problem still exists...

It's so frustrating because I haven't got a clue of it's cause.

Sorry to hear that didn't work for you.

I'll keep an eye out for other possible solutions.

At this point I do have to ask though whether you use this laptop elsewhere and whether it exhibits the same symptoms there?

It is possible that your onboard wireless card is faulty.
