Ok, my problem is pretty simple. When I got RoadRunner Cable Internet, I ran it through a Linksys Wireless-B Router. This worked well for a while. Now, when I unplug the router, and plug my computer directly into the modem, I don't get internet. It only works when I go through the router. Can someone help me fix this?

(The reason I'm trying to do this is to set up a new router, and I realized that I can't do that until I fix this problem.)

What version of Windows do you have? XP, Vista - please let us know in your next post.

Please check the following:

Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > right click Local Area Connection > select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.
Make sure Obtain IP Address automatically and Obtain DNS server automatically are selected. Click OK.

If the above didn't help - please click Start > Run > type: cmd > Click OK
at the prompt type: ipconfig/all
Please copy and paste this information into your next post. Make sure you are only connected to the modem when you do this.

Don't forget to let us know what Operating System you have and also the make and model of new router.
