Are you connecting with a cable or wirelessly?

To view ipconfig - you need click Start > Run > then type:cmd > Click ok.
At the prompt type: ipconfig or ipconfig /all if you want more detailed information. If you just type ipconfig at the run command it will flash up for a second and then disappear.

Try this to hopefully help the problem - Click start > Control Panel > Network connections.
Right click Local Area Connection > select Properties > select Authentication tab.
Make sure there is no tick in Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network. Click OK.

If you still get drop outs it could be your modem or isp that is the problem. Please post back with the make and model of your modem.

You may need to get a new modem. If it still happens even after you remove the router then it's most likely the modem.

Do you have another computer you can use to test the connection with. Just so you can rule out the problem being caused by your computer. If you have to reboot the modem each time it happens though I don't think it's the pc that is the problem.
