This is probly very easy to do but im just not that good at setting up networks lol, well i have a pc and a xbox360 which are networked and connected to the internet through a wired router but i bought a new laptop today and wanna add it to the network and share files but im having problem, ive go them both on the same workgroup but i cant see my laptop. Any ideas of what to do? my PC is running windows xp home and the laptop is running vista and im using zone alarms on both of them.
any help would be good thanks

thanks for the reply and video, i can see and use the files on my vista pc but i cant see my xp pc from the vista one, if you know what i mean. Any idea?

Are you able to map a network drive to the folder you shared on the XP machine? Mapping drives is a better perminent solution, as you don't need to scroll through your network computers and shares to access your files and resources - just go to My computer and your shared folder will be there.

- Right click on My Computer, or in the case of Vista, just Computer from what I remember, and go to Map Network Drive.
- Select the drive letter you would like to share the folder on, and type in the folder path for your connection, which should be \\Computer Name\Share Name
- Make sure Reconnect at Logon is ticked and finally Finish.

If your not able to connect this way, please let me know there error message you receive. It's possible that Zone Alarm can also be causing issues, so disabling Zone Alarm and then testing would be a good idea. There's a lot more troubleshooting that can be done from here if your still experiencing issues.
