Default My static IP issues

I have Xbox Live, and recently it's been giving me troubles. I found that giving both my 360 and my PC a static IP address fixed the problems... temporarily. Shortly afterword my internet basically collapsed, and I had to set my IP and DNS back to dynamic. My ISP is Comcast, and this has happened twice. From what I've been told, static IP addresses are not supposed to have these kinds of repercussions.

My internet is better off with static IP, but for some reason I cannot use it. Is this a problem with me, or is it just way of Comcast keeping me on a leash (intentional or otherwise)?

And if I keep my Xbox 360 set to a static IP, will it have issues as well?

Hi,

The assigning of the IP addresses should have nothing to do with Comcast as you create and receive them internally, in your home. The IP address given to you (external facing) by Comcast will more than likely be DHCP but either will not matter in this scenario. Your router assigns your IP addresses if you are set to DHCP but you should also be able to use a static range in the house too. What networking equipment are you using..router etc?

I'm using a router, the modem, and that's all. It's a d-link router.
