ok, now i can access the ftp on the internet on mt pc but not another one. I fowarded my router ip port thing and made a staic ip, but could someone just walk me through the steps of logging onto my ftp from a different pc.

I would like to be able to access my hdd from my work pc and download a file or two at a time.

Ok, I suggest you download and install the Filezilla client on your work PC. It is easy to use with drag and drop functionality. Download the installer from here: SourceForge.net: Downloading ...

Install it and open. Click File > Site Manager, New site, give it a name, in Host put in your IP which can be found from whatismyip.com, and port 21, then logontype Normal and type in your username and password and click OK, then click the drop down on the first icon at the top and select your site and it should connect
