Is that Intel Gigabit Adapter a separate card?
Did you try removing it-- and wiping all the drivers for it?
It sounds to me like Windows is having hardware recognition problems in normal boot

Hello all!

In my troubleshooting, I have noticed I can go into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING - and I can access Internet and network. However, if I boot into Windows without "uninstalling" my adapters as detailed in previous posts, the LAN card I installed does not exist in IPCONFIG, and all numbers are zero's for the built in LAN (as you might expect since they are not plugged in). Also, when I reboot, I do NOT have any sound and mixer.exe shows a GPF. This leading me to believe that there might be a driver issue when Windows boots into "normal" mode....I can't believe that other software is messing with the NIC's or it would exhibit the behavior when I install the cards again.

I NEED HELP.......

I did install a few programs, but uninstalling them did not help...I uninstalled Windows updates back to June and that also provided no relief. Lastly, I have noticed that if I shut down my computer without goign through the normal shut down process(shudder!)I am able to access network upon restart again. If I let it "save" my settings, no access.

I have found I can access the network in safe mode (with networking) but if I reboot without uninstalling the adapters in safe mode, I have no network at all. I also tried to use SFC /SCANNNOW, but I get an error "Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL cache" When I insert my Windows XP Pro w SP2 disk (the one I got from my maufacturer) it states under more information that "you have inserted the wrong cd or a different windows product than the version installed".

I am calling my PC manufacturer.....

The Intel card is an onboard LAN.....I remove the drivers and disable the adapter in device manager with the same results.
