yea still persisting. I'm now using AVG pro but I'm confident it's correctly configured.

it was a firewall issue, got rid of PC Guard, replaced and properly configured AVG and it's going. Thank you very much for your help.

Wel..cant rly think of nethin as of now...
v had similar problems wen v were settin up a LAN for our hostel..i ll list the kinda probs v had n u can mayb get sum help 4m dat
1)IP addresses not assigned properly...if u ve used wat i asked u to use then that wnt b a prob 4 sure..guranteed
2)Wire Probs....
2.1 - Crimping problem...as v had hand crimped our wires dere were probs in sum of dem..also sum wires had gotten rahter bent when we had stored them...so dere were internal cuts in da wire 2.
2.2 - Support of wires...dere r sum ethernet cards dat dnt support cat5e or cat6 as yet. v had su toshiba n dell laptops which gav us a hard time gettin da rite kinda wires 4 dem..
3)Firewall issues...wel i dnt think u hav ne of dose..

Wil keep u informed if i can remeber nethin else...pls do keep lettin me no of ne updates..
