Vamp go downstairs and let main pc do the search for computers on the network.

Have you made the workgroup all the same name?
Have you run wireless setup wizard?
Check on main pc on network sharing?

Have you reinstalled the drivers for the network cards?

I dont actually have access to the main PC at the moment. I am going to take some screencaps on this HDD and then some on the new one to show you the differences it the network connections. Watch this space.

BTW: I ran the wireless setup wizard but it only gave me the option to CREATE a new one rather than connect to the existing one.

Right I have the screenshots. Number 1 is from my current HDD with working Wireless etc. Notice the circled tab AND the name of the device, as for some reason in number 2 (image from my NEW HDD) it's called nVidia... Also there is no wireless tab here.

2. http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/2652/badkd8.jpg

3. This is when I mouse over the Wireless device icon in the taskbar: http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/2603/333jc6.png

What I'm go to do right now is open my PC up, remove the PCI Wireless card and place it back in, then load up the new HDD and see with it change anything.

Hi,I would remove the card reboot/shut down replace card reboot.

Are all there pictures from same pc the one you are trying to get to connect to the network?

The card proberly needs a driver have you checked in device manager for any yellow symbols?

See the first picture?See on left Setup a home or small office network you use that.

The second picture says unplugged as you have not got it wired to a router or modem.

All pictures are from the same PC. I have 2 hard drives. I just installed windows on the new one but can't get a wireless connection.

Picture number 1 was taken on this hard drive, the one I've been using for a few years. 2 and 3 are from the new hard drive which I'm having trouble with.

Ok you fitted a new hard drive and formatted it with xp?

Now your WAN card is not showing up and cannot connect to the internet?

So your old hard drive is now a slave drive and is it formatted as a storage drive?

When you format a computer you then need to download what we call drivers as the drivers that are included on an XP OS disk are basic drivers they are there just to get your computer up and running.

You then need to reinstall drivers for ceratin hardware.

Please do this right click on my computer and scroll to properties/click on hardware tab then device manager please could you look for any symbols in yellow?

What is the full name of this card?

Yes. I created a slipstream disc. Merged Service pack 2 with my pre-service pack XP CD.

No. I'm still using this old Hard drive as my main drive until I can get internet onto the new one. At which point I will start trasferring all the files to the new one and eventually ditch this Hard Drive.

Well the drivers should be included of the software CD I use to install the PCI Wireless card. Device manager says it's working properly.

Please do this right click on my computer and scroll to properties/click on hardware tab then device manager please could you look for any symbols in yellow?

Nothing in yellow..

What is the full name of this card?

IEEE 802.11g Wireless LAN Adapter.
Do you have any idea that on the new HDD where I can't get wireless that's it's referring to the Network card as nVidia yet in screenshot 1 you can see that the working Hard Drive refers to it as normal.

UPDATE: I have got it working. I used device manager to update the drivers from the CD and that did the trick. Thanks Jelly Bean.
