Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set up my USB 500 Gig drive as a virtual server in the dlink DIR-615. What I am trying to do is be able to access the HD from work.I did use the free DNS service to where I have a free address.Currently I use XP SP2 my IP for that comp. is 192.168.1.100.I currently have the wireless setup as I can access my petcam from online.So I need to know how to direct my new dns name over to 192.168.1.100 and then to drive G: Any help would be appreciated.

Hi sharkrc - welcome to PCHF! Sorry it has taken us so long to respond to your question. We're all in different timezones and very busy so sometimes it can take a while to get an answer.

I would recommend using Hamachi for this - it will create a secure link between your home and work pc and will enable you to access the files on your home pc. Hamachi is free for small business and personal use.

As long as Hamachi is running on your home PC you will always be able to connect to it from work or any other computer with Hamachi installed as long as you know the Hamachi IP and password.
