Default "Limited or No Connectivity" error

Hello PHF,

I've been trying to figure out a solution to the "Limited or No Connectivity" error for 14 days now. The internet works fine when I connect it straight from the modem to the PC using a USB cord but... whenever I try connecting it through my router (which is where I'm aiming to accomplish) it shows the "Limited or No Connectivity" message.

I can't access my routers settings page as it always tells me I'm not connected to the internet, etc... I ran an ipconfig command in the command prompt area (results after text) I tried connecting with just the ethernet cord running through just my modem and still the same error but USB seems to at least allow me browse the internet and also type this message (thank god) :P

A few days before the error I was connected through the ethernet cable with no problems at all. I also reformatted my PC and still... No luck, I only have one pc connected so I doubt anything else is interfering.

The router I'm using is a Belkin Wireless G Router - Model: F5D7230-4

The command prompt resulted this (Ethernet connect (top) ) ~ (USB connect(bottom) ):

Either I'm dumb or dumber but I have no idea on how IP Address's are handled or how to change many settings around, I just know that they're important. I tried to be as specific as possible. If there is any questions you'd like to ask me then feel free to do so. I know this issue probably has been brought up many times in the future but the other forums I checked just didn't do it for me and I didn't want to just jam a question inside someone else thread. Sorry for the long text ^_^

(Note: Whenever I try to repair the connection it just states... Well... I'll just post screenshot thumbnails lol)

Thanks in advance -
crimsion

Welcome to PCHF crimsion,

did you install the router setup that came with the router? there should be some type of cd that came with your package.

Thanks joeyfine ^_^

Hmm... now that I think about it, I don't think the installation went through from the CD. If I remember correctly it showed "Error: Unable to load DLL" or something of that sort. So with the thought "Is this CD broken?" in my mind I decided to just go to the support website for me router and try out theirs. I recall it giving the same error.

Default Re: "Limited or No Connectivity" error

Hi Crimsion,

Lets try configuring it manually. In network connections > right click the connection with limited or no connectivity > select properties. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the connection uses the following items list.

Select use the following IP address and enter details as per below:

IP Address: 192.168.2.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

Select use the following DNS server addresses:

Preferred DNS Server: 192.168.2.1
don't worry about the alternate. Click OK. Click OK.

If you have the modem connected into router by ethernet cable. Power off the modem and router. Power on the modem > wait until it has connected > power on router > then connect cable from one the ports on the router to your pc.

You should hopefully have internet access or atleast be able to access the router through internet explorer.
