Hi there,
I'm currently on a wireless set up with 2 other members of my family and I hate it (speed fluctuates all over the place) so I plan to go back to a wired connection. I have a Linksys router with 4 CAT 5 connections. The router is currently used to run wireless. All I'm after is this; could I hook a CAT 5 cable up to the router and run it into my PC and receive the internet without interfering with the two wireless connections? Sounds disjointed I know but I can't seem to explain it any other way.
My last question is thus:
To do this I would need a CAT 5 UTP or an RJ45 to RJ45 UTP? I'd need one that's about 25 metres. Would this effect my speed?
Here are some examples of the cables I'm talking about -
Maplin > CAT 5e UTP Patch Cables
25M RJ45 to RJ45 UTP CAT 5e stranded on eBay, also, Network Cables RJ45, Cables Connectors, Computing (end time 07-May-08 22:20:00 BST)
I've been searching around the routers manual for a while now and couldn't find a clear answer to this question.
Have I got my thinking right in this one?
Thanks all
