Hello Roy and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Could you explain a little more please?

What internet service do you use?

This problem is not my problem but a friends. He had someone look at his PC because he had a problem. This was supposed to be sorted but wasn't and there were now new problems which meant that I had to reload XP. The connection to the internet did not work. It has an ethernet cable from the PC to the livebox. Orange say that there is no LAN connection. The live box has a connection to Orange, but not from the PC to the livebox. In network options/connections there is not LAN connection icon.

Hope this makes it a little clearer.

Thanks

Oh Orange,mm.

Yes perfectly clear.Thankyou.

Orange tech support is completely wrong. It was never removed it just needs a driver update or downloaded and installed.

You need to update drivers for your network cards in device manager.
Or download the drivers for his make and model of PC/Laptop from manufacurers website then use device manager to install them.

Thats why it shows no network cards or connections.

After a reformat/reinstall drivers must be downloaded and installed properly or the machine will not run correctly or things appear missing.

Now as the machine is not connected to internet the drivers will have to be downloaded and saved onto another machine, then put to disk and transfered to the other machine that is missing drivers.
