The answer is 4 different ways and they are: NVRAM, FLASH, TFTP and ROM, in that order. It only goes trough those steps if the previous step before it, beginning with FLASH, doesn't have the IOS image.

I found that when I googled But wasn't sure if it was right.

Yes that's right

1. NVRAM
2. Flash (sequential)
3. TFTP server (network boot)
4. ROM (partial IOS)

Although you *can* configure the order
