That can happen if you are connecting wirelessly to the router when you change the setting. Try connecting to the router via an ethernet cable. Then change the setting.

Also make sure no-ones connected to the router wirelessly before you change the setting. So make sure your brothers computer is switched off.

Have you checked the settings on both the pc's also as per my post.

If you still can't change the channel and save the changes on the router post back.

ok, I connected to the router from a cable and it worked. I changed the channel and it seems to be working better!

I hope it stays that way, thanks for your help! I'll be sure to post again if it acts up.
