Default Connecting 2 PC's together

Heys guys. Just wondering if I would be able to connect my PC and my bro's PC together to share files and stuff using my router?

Router in question is:
Netgear DG834 ADSL Firewall Router with 4 Port 10/100 Switch - Ebuyer

Broadband Routers DG834 - ADSL Modem Firewall Router

Both PC's are running XP SP2

My internet connection is setup manually for the IP address etc. I think my bro's PC will be automatic, not too sure as I haven't looked at that bit yet?

Thanks for the help.

According to the picture, they're already hooked together...do you mean how to set them up software-wise?

I think so yeah.

Basically what I'm wanting to do is, make it so i can see his computer and my bro can see my computer, so we can get files from each others HDD.

Or make it so there is a sharing folder that we can both look at to exchange files.

Okay, this should be easy then.
Personally, I have two computers set up.
The one I am on now is the wireless computer and I easily share files and music through the gateway computer(the other computer connected to the modem)

I use a software called Hamachi.
It's a VPN(virtual private network) once it assigns you an IP address, that will be that computers IP address forever(with hamachi anyways)
try downloading hamachi on both computers and enable sharing of files on both as well (depending on what files you wanna share)

It's super easy, it does all the configuring for you so it works GREAT with firewalls and routers. It automatically sets itself up and is VERY reliable in my opinion.

up to you.

just follow the tutorial and you should be on your way!!

post back and let me know what you think

Alternativly you can use the "Set up a home or small office network" wizard from "My Netowrk Places" or the control panel -> Network connections.

It worked a treat for me

The share the bits you wnat the other PC to see (rmb on folder then "Sharing and security")

Quick and easy way to get you going.

Happy networking
