Default Multiple Routers

Hello all.

I am currently living in a student house, with a shared internet connection. One of my house mates has decided to take over the internet and block certain people and give himself priority (it is his router).
I was wondering if it was possible to insert my own router in between his and the modem (using cables, not wirless).
Would his router still pick up the internet ok through mine? And would he know that mine is there?
How would I go about setting it up, or would it be plug in and play?

Thanks very much, Simon

Hi there mate, he sounds like a bit of a numpty.

It would still theoretically work however it'd make things rather complicated for him especially but you should at least be able to get an nternet connection. However if he went into the router config he'd see that the router was given an internal ipaddress which would set alarm bells ringing.

IF your ISP allows multiple IP addresses you;d be better off with a switch, connect the modem to the uplink port and clients(including his router) to the other ethernet ports.
