I have a local ISP. I have tried pinging Yahoo.com. I get an answer back from the IP but I get nothing for the DNS. It says all DNS call backs have been failed.
Go onto the router config pages..then find the status tab for your ISP connection and see if you have an external IP address and DNS address in there. If you don't then the problem lies with the ISP and/or connection to them.

Did you ever try holding that penhole reset button on the router for about a minute?

Also, if you are connecting into a pre existing router, disable DHCP on it and give your router a permanent IP address such as 192.168.1.254

See if that does you any good.
