Thanks for the links guys, much appreciated, right lets see if daft me gets this , if i buy one of these super long cables and i connect one to my original broadband modem and totally bypass my router and then i connect the super long ! cable to my kids upstairs pc then i will have internet shared between both ?

It seems the kids were getting onto my computer via the usb adapter that came with my wireless router and that the initial set up had failed, my kids are able to access the guy next doors pc through this adapter also ? ! , i have virgin broadband which has a cable that cannot be unplugged and put into my wireless router, so i its not your usual connection so i was connecting using an ethernet connection from modem to wireless router and a connection from wireless router to pc which seems a standard thing ? , no ?

Modem is a s85100i motorola surfboard.

I tried removing my usb connection from my modem and then connected my wireless router via the ethernet and when i did this i got to the last step of my installation cd, i read somewhere that usb and ethernet conflict when involving routers/modems am i correct ?
This got me a step further but at the last connection test step it failed after 10 attempts ??

Somehow i think i am tuned to the moon here and i have picked you guys up wrong, am a bit simple

Sorry this post is a bit upside down and back to front

All fixed now, thanks for the help guys , it seems a few settings were wrong and once we were able to access the router we could change everything to the proper set up and configurations.

Cheers guys top site this is !
