hope someone can help here.

I've got multiple devices running on a Belkin router.
I brought home a friends pc to work on, but I cant seem to get it to connect.

I replaced the NIC but no luck.

Tried both automatically detecting the settings and manually entering the gateway/ip/etc.
Still no luck.

When I run ip config I get ....
no connection specific DNS Suffix
169.254.127.30 for the ip
255.255.0.0 for the subnet mask
and no gateway

Seems to me like the router and NIC arent talking.

Any ideas how I can resolve this??

Hi welcome to PCHF what model is the router they have a default IP address (unless it's been changed) and a web interface for configuration.

Model is a belkin something or other.

I tried putting in the routers default ip in as the gateway on the pc in question.
Still no luck.

Is it safe to assume that the other devices on your network use the 192.168.1.0 private addressing scheme?

(this question may seem odd but I am going to ask you to manually configure some settings and I want to make sure I get them right)

192.168.2.1 is the routers address.

OK, thanks. Manually configure the following settings for the computer:

IP Address: 192.168.2.254
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.2.1

Have tried this but still no luck.
Any other ideas?
