hey how do i encrypt my internet connection so it cannot be seen by anybody that is not on the network is it as simple as setting the network connection to public or is it more elaborate than that. just trying to help out a friend at school....please give me some insight on this issue. thanks

Hi!

You can secure a home network with a key, it means that everyone who wants to enter the network has to enter the key otherwise they can't get on the network.
The 2 most common types of keys are WEP and WPA though the first one is almost outdated so I recommend you use the second.
In the manual of the router there must be a section about this subject...

To be more specific you should use WPA2 if your router supports it. Also use an encryption key that is 10 characters or greater and has a combination of letters and numbers.
