Default Network Passwords

Is there any easy way to find out what the password is on a network if you were not the one that set it up and the person that did no longer works for the Company?

I'm trying to avoid reformatting 2 Epson IM310 Touch Screen tills, unless its absolutely necessary.

When i attach my laptop and two other PCs to the network, and try to look at the POS's from Windows Explorer, it asks me for the password, which of course i don't know. I've tried all the usual obvious passwords.

Is there a Windows back door or some software that can identify it?

hopefully...

Try contacting the person who set it up.

That would be the obvious route - but the person no longer works for the company and apparently hasn't done for quite some time. Impossible to track down.

What's the base OS on those devices?

Here are a few options for you, my pick would be number one;
  1. Windows Password recovery - Can retrieve forgotten admin and users' passwords in minutes. Safest possible option, does not write anything to hard drive.
  2. Petter Nordahl-Hagen's Offline NT Password & Registry Editor - A great boot CD/Floppy that can reset the local administrator's password.
  3. Openwall's John the Ripper - Good boot floppy with cracking capabilities.
  4. EBCD – Emergency Boot CD - Bootable CD, intended for system recovery in the case of software or hardware faults.

It's a hard work. Little people share it online.
