Default [Fixed] Winsock Problems

Hey Guys!-

I've been having problems with my internet lately and I read somewhere that I should try the WinSock Fix for XP. I did so and now my Network Connection won't even connect (before it would connect, but I would still get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error). When I bootup I get an error message saying "WSAStartup() failed" with something about the wrong version of winsock being installed. I'm not quite sure where to go fix this. Can anyone help me out! Thanks!

Hi there and welcome to PCHF, after you ran the Winsock tool, did you reboot?

Yes, I did reboot after I used the WinSock Fix tool.

-Merlin,

Whenever I try to use that version it gives me an .exe file
when I try to run it says

"....WinsockxpFix[1].exe is not a valid win32 application."

So I was forced to use another tool that came in a file that was around 1 MB in size.

Thanks for the quick responses.

may want to post a hjt log just to see if something is 'borrowing' the lsp's as well......some malware will do that just to mess with ya.

p.s. sorry for the hijack.

Alright so I ran Autoexec.net Fix and it installed something, then I ran the Winsock fix again and got the same error. Is there a way to downlaod hijack this and transfer it to the computer that isn't working? I'm on my laptop right now. Thanks again for the quick response.

I'll be impressed if you guys solve this haha....it's been blowing my mind
