Download LSPFix.exe

Instructions for using LSPFix
  1. Double click on LSPFix.exe to run it.
  2. Once running, you will be required to tick the disclaimer - "I know what I'm doing".
  3. You'll find a windows with 2 columns. In the left column which is labeled 'Keep', click once to select the entry:
    • nwprovau.dll
  4. Then click on the arrow pointing to the right, >>.
This will move the entry to the right column labeled 'Remove'
Click the Finish button to complete the fix.

That should clear up the internet issues. Let us know how it works for you.

Thanks,

v

w00t! You fixed the WinSock error! I'm so happy, haha.

Okay, so now I'm where I was before I did the WinSock Fix the first time, which gave me the error that is now gone.

I'm still getting a Page Cannot Be Displayed Error, and I can't figure out why. I've talked to some people can they said it my be something with DHCP or SSID and my router?

I'm glad I found a good forum for computer help now, though. and valis, I REALLY appreciate your help and patience with all this. And you're a genius.

My internal is 192.168.x.x not 169.x.x.x, I can't find a SSID on my router interface (someone told me that it needs to match my workspace name for my computer) and it is setup to act like a DHCP server. TCP/IP are set to obtain IP automatically. So i'm not sure what else there is to check.

The wireless from the router works fine, but the hardwire to my desktop does not. When I hardwire to my laptop, it works fine. Must be a setting on the network card, no?

If I need to move this to another thread now, let me know! Thanks for your help.

Ahh the Page Cannot Be Displayed error, should be an easy fix: In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then internet options, click the Connections Tab, then click LAN Settings, and make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is ticked and ok your way out.

just out of curiousity, can you post your tcp/ip stack settings here? start > run > cmd > ipconfig /all > right click in the dos box > select all > ctrl + c to copy > paste the results here in a reply.

thanks,
v
