Default sharing files on 2 network PC's

I have a laptop and a PC both of which access the internet via a Belkin wireless router. My wife and I have our own Windows accounts on both laptop and PC. When we are using both systems at once, and one wants to send a file to the other we either email or send via X-fire file transfer. I wanted to know if there was a way that i could simply drag-and-drop files into a shared folder, on the laptop, that was shared by both systems and then my wife could simply open the folder on her PC and the file would be there, and vice-versa.

Default Re: sharing files on 2 network PC's

yup. My wife and I have the same setup, only with a linksys router. Just create a folder on whichever the 'main' pc is, call it 'shared', or something equally easy to remember (I think I called mine 'wife's junk' ).l

Right click start > explore > navigate to the folder you created > right click > properties > sharing (assuming you have xp here) > tick 'share this folder', share it as the folder name > go to the other pc > start > run > type \\othercomputername\ > enter, should show up there. If it does, then you can just right click on the desktop and create a new shortcut using the \\othercomputername\sharedfoldername as the target, and you should be good to go.

Let us know how it goes.

thanks,

v
