Hello,
I have a Linksys WRT54G VER 8 router. My the Internet works fine when connected from the cable modem to my WinXP desktop, but when I connect it to the Linksys router the Internet does not work.I can get into the router "192.168.1.1" and set everything up.
I can ping the router, but if I ping the Internet I get "request timed out"
The cables are good. I have them set up, 1 cable from cable modem to Wan link and 1 cable from PC to to router. I tried all 4 links. I turned off Windows firewall and still no Internet.

Hello jplink,

Is this a new router that you are setting up for the first time? If so, Then go to the link below and follow the directions exactly. I believe these instructions will get you online.

Pay attention to the Power Cycling instructions. Most ignore that part and wonder why it doesn't work..
