Default [Pending] Trying to get off dial-up at 21.6k on a good day

I am trying to use alltel for wireless and have purchased their software to allow me to get away from dial up... I live in (very) rural NW new mexico. I have been on the phone for some time with their techs and i am still not getting out through them for some reason. i can go anywhere i want with my dial-up isp..(time permitting).. when i hook up with alltel it can only get one sometimes two pages and it quits. By pages i mean if i go to yahoo mail sign in,, then click mail,, the page opens, one more click to actually open a message and it stops. after some seconds i get the sweet message explorer can not open.Other times i get the ''can not'' message right away. I have downloaded IE7, I have downloaded a utility which said it would make IE 7 think it was IE6,, I have done a ton of stuff and I am sure that me being a ''redneck'' LOL,, I have something messed up somewhere,,, so Here we go,, i am hoping some of you may shed some much need light on my dark corner of new mexico.. I am expierencing a some what weak signal thru the cell phone,, from 48% to 58% depending ,,But before i purchase a amplifier/boooster ($250--300 bucks) i would like to make what i have work..It did work for a few days at one time about 2 weeks ago,,and with the weak signal it still was way faster than my dial-up....I am a newbie,, so please be gentle ,, I kinda know my way around a little,, I am using xp pro with all the latest updates,my PC is a Compaq pressario,, I say thanks in advance to all who may have a brilliant idea or three,,, Slim

I did go to a area where the signal was 5 bars madmatt,, and that was while it was working pretty good for a few days,, the speed definately increased,, it also worked here at my home with the one to one and a half bars,,but a bit slower,,i am looking at buying a amplifer/booster. it seems like after i get hooked up the page times out or something stops sending...?? The tower is only 1 mile away from my place,, but there is a small hill blocking,, as far as cell recption i have very few dropped calls from here... Thanks
