Default [Resolved] My ping is messing up

I went to go play counter-strike: source, I joined my favorite server (I usually have a ping of about 50), and then I go kicked for haveing too high of a ping so I go see what it is and its up at 256. I went to search for servers and there are no server under 200.

Earlier today (before I tried playing cs:s) I had a D-Link wireless router (on the back it syas model wbr-1310) hooked up, but then my internet just stopped working so I hooked up another router (non-wireless and it doesn't say a brand or model) and the internet started working fine again.

So could the router be why my ping is so high? I think the 30-day warrenty is up. Why pay $40 for something thats expected to break after 30 days?

Either your wiring was not seated properly and by replacing the router you fixed the seating, or you have a not so good wireless router. I would suggest you reconnect the wireless and see if it is working again. If it is, then the problem was probably a bad seated connection. If it is still bad, then reinstall the non-wireless router.

If you decide to buy a new wireless router, I would suggest you NOT buy the same make/model.

Are you sure its not just a ISP network issue. My ISP was carrying out maintenance a few weeks ago and i received pings like that on CS:S.

If you suspect the ISP, contact them and ask for a status of their system. However, if your non-wireless router was working properly, and you used the same ISP access point for both routers, then I suspect it will prove to be your wireless and not the ISP that is faulty.

Good Luck...

Ok, I hooked up the wireless router, and it still doesn't work

I guess it was just my ISP, because its fine now.

I don't think I'm going to get another wireless router because I already moved my computer next to my router.
